About me

Hello, I'm Simon and I'm a designer and developer from Dortmund, Germany. I am currently working as a Project Lead for Digital Projects, managing the whole process of thinking, designing and developing websites for various types of customers. I have a strong interest in organisation and improvement of design and development workflows, which relates both to my responsibilities as a project manager as well as to my personal curiosity in user interfaces.

In the 2010's I completed a Bachelors Degree in Communication Design as well as a Masters Degree in Information Design at the University of Applied Sciences of Würzburg, Germany. I have very fond memories of my time as a student and have worked together with some amazing people, with a special mention of Evelyn Heim and Thomas Lipp. Although I never intended to I eventually moved back to my home town of Dortmund, that everyone only seems to know because of it's football team Borussia Dortmund, if at all.

Next to working on professional and private design and development projects, I enjoy cycling and travelling with my wife. During our regular journeys to the UK I have continuously been fascinated by British typography and lettering, in particular on chalk boards and pub signs. Mostly for my own interest, I have started to (irregularly) document these findings – first in a WordPress blog, then in a blog at tumblr until I eventually took the time to build this website and host them here.

If for any reason you want to get in contact with me, feel free to send me a message on Twitter or simply send me an e-mail to hello@simonolog.com.
